Elizabeth was admitted after an extensive time on a ventilator due to having COVID-19. She was diagnosed with viral pneumonia, acute respiratory failure, and required 3 liters of supplemental oxygen. She was very confused due to hypercapnia. Our respiratory therapists applied BiPAP therapy twice a day, along with wearing it at night, to assist with her CO2 retention. Elizabeth is now independent and says that she is thankful to all her caregivers who stuck with her and never gave up. At her recent pulmonary appointment, it was reported that she is now back to normal lung function and has made a full recovery.
